Welcome to Christa McAuliffe Elementary!

I am humbly honored and excited to work side by side with the amazing McAuliffe staff, parents, students and community. I look forward to creating strong and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders. At our school, students are learners today, leaders tomorrow! Our mission at McAuliffe is to deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum while creating a positive and challenging atmosphere with high standards to ensure student academic, social, physical, and emotional development.

We believe that every student can learn. We also believe that every student has a different learning style, a different personality, and different qualities. Such diversity of students makes McAuliffe an extraordinary place. To continue the tradition of excellence, our goal is to embrace our diversity and ensure students are safe, nurtured, challenged, and more importantly loved.

As your principal, my goal is to cultivate an environment of high expectations, academic rigor, a love for learning and strong parental involvement. I am privileged to lead such an exceptional school community and gladly anticipate another rewarding and successful year.

Yvonne Caldwell, M.Ed.

Mrs. Yvonne Caldwell graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American in May of 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. In August of 1994, she started her career at Edcouch-Elsa Junior High teaching 8th grade Science. In August 2000, she graduated with her Masters in Secondary Education from UTPA and was then hired as an administrator. Her educational experience of 29 years consists of being a teacher, curriculum assistant, Senior Education Specialist at Region One, Director of Science for Donna ISD, assistant principal and Dean of Instruction. She became the principal of Christa McAuliffe Elementary in December 2022.
